Texas Petrographic Services produces a wide range of rocks and minerals thin Section computerized equipment. These are produced to high standards in the department of thin section-laboratory preparation service from sent-in hand specimens, well cuttings to whole rock, which are reduced to many sizes.
Our thin sections are handled by different lab technicians in a specialized department from impregnation to grinding to polishing. The section is made by grinding down a slice of rock which has been mounted to a glass slide until it reaches the correct thickness. Our mounting technique will admit most minerals to become more transparent and ready for analysis by a microscoping transmitted light.
